Oh no some clouds have appeared
Monday 5 April
Oh dear, there are clouds in the otherwise blue sky. What’s happening? We have had such hot beach weather so far, a real Indian summer. Not to worry though, we have breakfast in bed and catch up on some reading before heading out to a new beach for our walk. Narrawallee beach is a bit smaller and less commercial but provides a nice walk of 3500 steps as we watch the nippers trying to surf. Flashy is a bit apprehensive, as it’s overcast with a hint of rain. Perfect shark weather. No one gets eaten however, so we head into Ulladulla to buy some fresh oysters, tiger prawns and snapper for our planned seafood dinner. Lady P has booked a table at Cupitts Estate winery, just down the road in the lush green hinterland. This is pumping today. Luckily we booked a table on the veranda overlooking the valley and Stony Creek. We ordered a flight of reds and a cool glass of viognier to accompany the locally made cheese board. Cupitts don’t actually make wine, they bring in the grapes from Young and Orange and bottle and label it on site, so the couple of rows of vines are just for show. They are really a fromagerie, gift shop and restaurant but it is a good tourism product nonetheless and we enjoyed the wines and cheese. A small, thin base and traditional salame pizza, with a big glass of Tempranillo capped off a nice light lunch in the country. Home to more relaxing and reading, a phone catch up with family, a game of five crowns (LP2/F1), then the seafood feast on the balcony and the last bottle of Nicholson River Sangiovese. It should be noted that the fillets of snapper baked lightly with butter SnP and wrapped in tinfoil on the BBQ were absolutely out of this world and we both agreed, surpassed the seafood mains we had at Rick Steins. You could taste the sea and the seafood.
