Sunshine and surf

Saturday 3 April

The day is beautiful and hot. First up a trip to the local Milton Farmers market. A Bacon and egg roll served by the lovely ladies from the local sourdough bakery for breakfast and then some meandering and gathering of all things local like tomato chilli jam, marinated olives and green tomato pickle for our ploughmans lunch back on the deck at our Air BnB. By the time we left the market an hour or so later the traffic was bumper to bumber through the village of Milton so we figured it was as good a day as any to check out the town. On the advice of locals we sourced the best coffee shop and then fought our way through the crowds whom we hoped were spending up big in these regional towns. Flashy brough a bamboo shirt at the market but was really desperate for some thongs and a cheap throwaway fishermans style sun hat. The temperature was up in the high twenties and we were heading to the beach in the afternoon. We tried the Kmart, Woollies and Coles at Ulladulla but they were well stocked with woolly hats and wintergear – obviously the long hot summer had caught them out as well. So instead we brought steak and salad for tea which we enjoyed after a leisurely couple of hours in the late arvo sun on Mollymook Beach along with several hundred other tourists and locals. The town appears bustling to us and we learn that it is not as busy as usual which is such a shame given the picture perfect weather.
